Guns blazing: Balopi says opposition parties lacks democracy

Balopi was launching the BDP candidate for the Rasesa Ward by-election, Daniel Molokwe over the weekend.

“While in the BDP we are to hold primaries for all constituencies and wards, at the opposition they already know who will be contesting.

Where is the democracy there? You can’t be voting for people who will be dictating to you without consultation,” he said.

Balopi said the BDP consults and allows everyone to contest in the primary elections. He said it was evident that the BDP was consulting as indicated by Vision 2036 which he said is all Batswana wanted during consultation.

Balopi also compared the opposition to vultures who always seek to capitalise when someone passes away. “Batswana should be cautious of these people. When there is a problem like at BCL they tell people to vote for them because there is a problem but they never tell people what their solution is,” he said. Balopi said the opposition never mentions “good things” such as teachers’ houses being built as part of the Economic Stimulus Programme.  He said Government is accommodating them to relieve  them somehow as they realised that teachers will never earn enough.

Balopi further said the ongoing efforts towards opposition cooperation will only bring trouble. “If they want to make changes why not form just one party? Trouble is looming.

They do not have any plan in place, but just want to rule,” he said.

Balopi asked Bakgatla to redeem the BDP and vote for Molokwe as he was an able man who has a great track record in and outside the party.

He called on the members to recruit from the opposition as the 2014 numbers were in favour of opposition. For his part, Molokwe said he was going to continue where his predecessor Seasebeng Monyake left off. “Two years is too little for me to start any projects, I will continue where Monyake left off. We all know she was a hard worker and I will work as hard as she did,” he said. Molokwe slammed the opposition saying they loved to use foul language while not telling people what they had to offer.
