The arena is built at the village’s popular and relatively new joint, Little Paws Garden.  It is where the event that starts from pre-independence day morning to the next day will be held. Amongst a host of activities lined up for the family-oriented event are the car spinning, swimming, kid’s corner, music and the new addition, motorbike riding.

Local spinners topped only by two imported entrants in the illustrious spin, Eddie Rasta of Cape Town and Makgasa Fire of Limpopo, are expected to bless the petrol heads that will grace the event with no less than maximum throttles, smoking tyres and skilful stunts.

Eddie Rasta who is amongst  South Africa’s top-ranked spinners confirmed his availability on video doing rounds in the Seshanyama Facebook page after being linked with another spin fest event back home that takes place on the same day.  “I want to bring to your attention that on September 29, I will be there at Palapye Seshanyama Spin Fest.

“It’s always a great pleasure to entertain Botswana. Come and join us and have some fun,” the dreadlocked spinner said. The local spinners include The General, The Sheriff, Graveyard, Magistrate, LatieBoi, Abi-Corb, Satane O Mala Mantsho, King Joe, V Mud-BW Spinners and the Ghetto Spin Warriors.

The South African man of the moment Master KG, and La Timmy are the two top acts in the music segment of the hashtag Reaphatola event. They will be supported by a host of local DJs that include amongst others Anthem, DJ Chabo and DJ Kops. Theorganiser, Bakang Molosiwa of Sound Boys entertainment said revellers must brace themselves for a surprise act.

“We have a surprise package for our followers and we have kept our line up lean but potent so that the crowd fully enjoys our acts,” he said.  “We avoided a bloated lineup because it usually ends with the crowd complaining after missing out on their favourite musicians.

“We have a great plan for the future and we want our crowd to enjoy these talented artists,” he said. To keep the culture going, Molosiwa said the event that is on its fourth edition will be galvanised by sizzling braai that would be served free to the revellers in the afternoon.

He said they have kept a similar promise in a string of activations they held in Palapye, Maun, Selebi Phikwe and Serowe recently. He said the activations have been pulling remarkable crowds and through them they have managed to sell out the 500 tickets allocated to the early birds.

He said their activations also appealed to the corporate world and secured the event some good deals. “We attracted key sponsors likes Kgalagadi Breweries who came on board as our brand sponsor through their Budweiser product.

“We also attracted Maru TV as our broadcasting partners. Our ticket sales are doing fine and we expect a reasonable crowd,” he said. He said preparations at the venue are almost complete ahead of the looming D-day.

He encouraged revellers to come as early as possible as the Gusheshe’s, other BMW’s and the guises are expected to come out and play at around 10am.

“We are doing the final touches at the parking area. We want a breathable space that will allow our security personnel to effortlessly do their job. We will be tight with security.” “This is the beginning of spinning in Palapye and we intend to hold the mini-spin festival at the arena and hopefully start a spinning team in the village as our contribution to the growth of spinning sport.” Other sponsors of the event include Desert Sand Hotel, Green Tswana, Personal Concepts, Fresh Image and Team Block Eight Spinners. The latter handles all the logistics of the spinners.
