GetBucks Inject P100,000 Into Lapologang's PSLE Preparations

The donation was intended to assist the school to intensify preparations for the impending Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE). Standard Seven pupils across the country will be sitting for the exams next month. Lapologang made the top five best government primary schools with a 95% pass rate from last year’s PSLE results.
GetBucks has adopted the school for a period of three years. In the past winter, the microlender donated winter warmers worth P240,000 to the school. Over the weekend the company’s principal, Martin DeKock was at the school to encourage the candidates and donated textbooks and teaching aids ahead of the examinations. DeKock said when they adopted the school, their greatest hope was to create an enabling environment for the prosperity of the students. He said GetBucks subscribe to its parent company’s MyBucks Foundation that was born from a belief that everyone deserves to live their best lives and as thus, thrives on creating opportunities to enabling communities and investing in lifelong opportunities that will make a difference.
DeKock said they want to ensure that they accord learners the platform to uncover hidden talents and allow them to dream bigger. He said the school’s 95% pass rate last year gives a glimmer of hope in driving the economy.
He highlighted that with the books donated, they are looking forward to an improved academic results from the impressive set in the previous examinations.
“Investing in our future is not only the right thing to do, but it is the hallmark of our existence. We take immense pride in doing this in our quest for a knowledge(-based) economy. This is a great opportunity for us to encourage learners to look into their talents, natural abilities and capabilities to nurture and encourage them,” he said. “There are engineers that will build structures that will change the face of Selebi-Phikwe.
We have doctors here that will drive medical research and breakthroughs for a lifetime. My little children, this is a message of encouragement for you. You are dreamers, dream more, do more and be more. You are whatever you believe you can be.” The school head, Inspector Makhura acknowledged the GetBucks partnership and gesture. He promised that the school staff and the pupils are putting in shifts to achieve better than they did in the previous year.
“This encouragement will go a long way. We have made a promise to our parents that we will do our best to improve our pass rate and our position this year and this benevolent gesture could have not come at a better time,” he said.
Parents, Teachers Association chairperson, Lesole Bogopa shared similar sentiments. He appreciated GetBucks and said the books are a legacy for the school that will live long to encourage and prepare different classes in future. He also promised they will play their part and encourage the pupils to focus on their studies.
