Passion drives The Photographers trio

The Photographers is subsidiary of the holding/parent company Wolves, which was founded by three talented and dedicated gentlemen who are driven by passion and a burning desire for photography. The trio, Kago Serole (22), Gonna Monnakgotla and Motheo Malgas both aged 20 are the minds behind The Photographers company.

The Photographers was established in April 2016, by Monnakgotla and Malgas and were later joined by Serole who founded Wolves. Their start-up has since grown to having 1,600 Facebook likes in the first three months of its inaugural year.

The Wolves is a progressive photography and film production company specialising in all aspects; concept development, creative direction, studio production and music direction. The group does not only focus on developing concepts but also produces and develops the creative direction of the shoot, be it in film or photography. They manage the creative process through production management.

“We provide high quality picture services for events, models weddings and family photos. We help conceptualise and develop ideas surrounding each shoot according to how the client anticipates it and strive to make each shoot unique to each of our clients,” Serole said.

He further explained that their shared passion for visual work, both in film and photography led them to joining forces and founding Wolves which is now the holding company. The choice to team up was based on their desire to develop and grow the film and photography industry in the country.

“We wish to develop into a successful media house as well as the film company as a whole,” he added.

For his part, Monnakgotla however complained that people are always trying to get free services from them and putting it as favours and sometimes claiming to be helping them gain exposure in the market. “People tend to play the ‘friend’ card and just think since we are friends we can provide free services for them,” he said.

“Batswana don’t understand what business is. The negative perception that Batswana have towards business won’t stop until people understand that what we do is not just a hobby, but a job, business that can boom as much and create employment for others,” he added.

Despite the challenges that The Photographers are facing, they have managed to have pictures posted on photography social media accounts such as Afro-punk, which have a huge following and it is a validation to them that their work is worthy of rewards.

“We’ve also managed to win the hearts of many with our captivating pictures and we’ve learned and grown so much in a period of less than one year, and thanks to everyone that supports us,” he said.

Monnakgotla concluded that the biggest achievement is being able get by each and every challenge and getting up every morning with the desire to be better than they were before.

Their plan for 2017 is to grow both The Photographers and Wolves.

“We wish to expand beyond where were are now and what we are currently doing, to shooting pictures for billboards, adverts for TV and maybe directing and filming our own TV shows or series..
