Just five months after the launch, the hang out sessions have hosted pint-sized afro pop maestro Lizibo of malebeswa hit, lejebejebe hit maker, Perion and other well known DJ’s in Ricky Lamar and DJ Yummy. One of the organisers, Moreri Phirinyane also known as ‘Tushort’ told Arts & Culture that they came up with the idea after realising that entertainment in Palapye is not moving at the same pace as the developments.

“We realised that as much as the developments are growing at a fast pace in Palapye, entertainment has been left behind with the only entertainment places being bars,” he said.

Tushort said the intention is to cater for people who want to chill and relax on Sundays without going to the bars. He said they were impressed with the crowd that showed up at their launch.

“The reception was good as people appreciated that they come and chill with their laptops while enjoying music in a secure environment. The Little Paws Garden where we host our event has a pool, free Wifi which is an added advantage,” he said. He added that through their sessions, they have accorded small business an opportunity to showcase their products as a way of marketing them.

To date, they have hosted mostly fashion designers, including the Mafia Soul founder Molefi Nkwete, Thabo ‘Touch’ Rantao of Savage brand as well Palapye brands.

“One of our objectives is to empower young entrepreneurs by giving them exposure. We sell them stalls in our monthly sessions, which are held every last Sunday of the month,” Tushort said they also accord young upcoming Palapye artists an opportunity to perform at their sessions as a way of them promoting the arts.
