Zanda Zakuza to headline Ba-ga-Mmanaana fiesta

Besides being featured in hits with Master KG and Prince KB, Zanda Yakuza, a songwriter and a dancer, is flying even higher with her new singles and the crowd will be expecting to hear her latest work.
She will headline the event alongside fellow countrymen Shota and legendary house group Rhythmic Elements. Rhythmic Elements, which is comprised of a DJ/producer needs no introduction with their raw African indigenous sounds and they have performed live in Botswana with a band so many times before.
The local lineup will include Motlha, MMP Family, Eskimos, Chrispin The Drummer, Hapex Guru, Kuchi, DJ Guyvos just to mention but a few.
Speaking to Arts & Culture, the show organiser from event management firm, Solid Weed, Thato Moses said the reason they came up with the event is because they are trying to celebrate the culture within Ba-ga-Mmanaana. “During independence in Moshupa, there are a few activities when it comes to events.
“The only show is GaaboMotho Festival in December, so in a period of 12 months we never have anything here,” he said. He said they took a decision to try to give Bakgatla Ba-ga-Mmanaana an opportunity to celebrate independence just like other villages and now the event will be held annually. “We are just starting small, but we will grow eventually as we go on. We are bringing Zanda Zukuza because she has a very good profile of hits,” he said. He said Shota has confirmed to them that he will be performing new songs despite having been absent for some time now.
Moses said they have a working relationship with Dladleng Entertainment even though as separate entities they have their own events.
“Booking the same venue is purely business,” he said. He added that as Solid Weed, they give events logistics solutions.
“We have been here for the past five years even though we haven’t been big on outdoor events. We took an opportunity this year to do our own event and see how it plays out,” he highlighted. He was also quick to mention that the security will be on point because they have security guards, car guards, bouncers, dogs, Botswana Police and people who will be patrolling the routes.
Moses said cooler boxes are allowed into the venue for free before 6pm.
The event starts from 10am until 10am the next day and single tickets will be sold at P100 while the double tickets cost P150.
