The Orapa-based side are second on the log with the same number of points as log leaders, Township Rollers. Moyo secured a job at Jwaneng mine before the beginning of the season and informed his club about the development.  Following discussions between the two parties, the team decided not to stand in his way.

“He informed us about the permanent job he got at the mine.  We could not stand in his way because his football career is short,” Orapa United spokesperson, Kabo William said.

“The player at some point in our discussions indicated his desire to find an arrangement where he can continue playing for us while still working in Jwaneng.

So, we are still waiting for him to come back to us and inform us if that is still possible,” William added.

He said they informed the Footballers Union Botswana (FUB) about the issue when it first came out since the player is their member. He said the decision to inform FUB was purely to make them aware that the player was no longer registered with them for this season.

“We wanted FUB to know that his non-registration had nothing to do with us,” he said. William said they could not register anyone as Moyo’s replacement because they are not sure if he will still come back to play for them or not. Moyo’s contract with Orapa United will elapse in December, making him eligible to sign for any other team.  Several Premier League sides were previously said to be interested in signing him including Jwaneng Galaxy and Rollers.

Galaxy, however, recently denied ever enquiring about the player. William revealed that Rollers made enquiries, but Orapa United informed the defending league champions about his situation.

“They asked about the player and we told them he has since got a permanent job at Jwaneng mine,” he said. Moyo’s absence has not only affected Orapa United’s plans, but also the national team’s. With Mogakolodi Ngele struggling to break into Mamelodi Sundowns team, Edwin Moalosi out with injury while Segolame Boy struggles with injuries also, national team coach, David Bright currently has limited choices for the number 10 position.
