Fine artist takes her talent to other level

The 23-year-old mostly creates her works using pencil, charcoal, coloured pencil, acrylic and oil paint. The young artist told Arts & Culture she focuses on understanding her clients’ requirements to deliver quality work.

“My artworks create an atmosphere that tells a story of culinary experience and holistic hospitality in restaurants and lounges,” she said.  She added that with her art she strives to improve a guest’s perception coupled with a genuine experience for both homes and hotels.

Moreover, she described her art as distinctive designs that aim to highlight a corporate image so that every aspect of one’s workplace can be uniquely tailored to their brand and organisational goals. “At the end of the day it’s about what I make people see, every stroke leaving a viewer immersed and having an intense connection with my work,” she said. According to her it’s hard striving in a male dominated industry, however, what really matters is how hungry she is in terms of delivering quality art and the hard work she puts towards achieving this.

Mangogola advised specifically women that art does not stop when one finishes senior school, “If it’s a passion then turn it into a career”. 

She added that she is passionate about empowering women in art therefore contribution includes offering art lessons to females to motivate and uplift them because she believes that they can run the art industry.

She said that the support for art in Botswana is not satisfactory because people have limited knowledge about it. 

Despite that, she is thankful for the opportunity Thapong Visual Arts Centre creates for artists to showcase their work. Mangogola plans to have her solo exhibition next year to showcase all her capabilities in art.

Her aspirations are to exhibit her work globally, build a world-class gallery, an art university, and mentor upcoming artists.  Looking back Mangogola said that she was introduced to art back in junior school. “I was motivated by my art teachers as they unleashed the talent I didn’t realise I had,” she said.
