The league champions showed their intentions as early as the second minute after Mothusi Cooper intercepted the ball and laid to Segolame Boy who played a one-two with Joel Mogorosi but the final shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Rollers continued to dominate the proceedings and their efforts eventually paid off in the 31st minute when Tumisang Orebonye put past Katlego Mbise after receiving a pass from the middle. A minute later, Mogorosi nearly doubled Popa’s lead with a header but it was ruled offside. Mogorosi forced Mbise into a double save in the 42nd minute after a corner kick played in by Boy. Mogorosi first had his header blocked then a shot off the rebound also saved. Popa took the one goal lead in to the half time break.

Five minutes after the break, Mbise produced yet another superb save after Mosha Gaolaolwe tried from outside the box. Gunners quickly started to find their feet in the game on the 59th minute Kenanao Khetholetsile delivered a long cross in to the box for Botshelo Mafoko who laid for Omogoditse Sitang but the latter could only shoot over the bar.

In the 74th minute, Kgetholetsile tried from a tight angle but the goalkeeper saved. Two minutes later, Kgetholetsile once again set up Sitang but the attacker was once again let down by his poor finishing. Rollers visited Gunners’ posts with 10 minutes to time when Jackson Lesole delivered a cross for Mogorosi who headed wide. Rollers held the slim lead until full time as they remain top of the log.

“We got the three points which maintains our momentum as we build one game at a time towards our ultimate aim of achieving the overall result next May. We dominated the match, especially in the first half, our ball circulation was excellent and we waited patiently to create those chances and we converted one of them which was enough for us to get the points,” Rollers’ assistant coach, Leutlwetse Tshireletso said after the game.

His counterpart, Enosi Mmesi slammed his side for respecting the opponents. “We feared Rollers, we gave them too much respect. It is important that we play them, we go at them. Yes they are a big team but we should not give them respect,” he said.
