I Will Not Be Biased Towards Moshupa - Masisi

Masisi allied any fears that he could deny Batswana who are not from his constituency developments. He was speaking at an event by the Bakgatla ba Mmanaana to celebrate his ascendance to presidency of the country on Friday.
“I am not going to serve you more than any other Batswana, I will serve all Batswana equally as all Batswana have that right in their country. As it stands, all eyes are on you.
They are observing how you behave. When it started, most of you were celebrating saying Tleke Moshupa. Just remember that you are Batswana. I urge you to celebrate as you are doing now even when others take the presidency because it would still be Botswana.
It is important that we are united. We should go forward as a solid union,” he said.
Masisi, who was the Moshupa/Manyana legislator prior to ascending to presidency, has been praised by many for roads that have been built in Moshupa.
However, residents still decry lack of water in the area. Current legislator, Karabo Gare, when giving vote of thanks raised the issue. He asked Masisi to help his people with access to water.
Masisi said it was a wonderful feeling to be home with Bakgatla, thanking Kgosi Mosielele and morafe. He said he understood very well that the ceremony was not meant to divorce him from other Batswana.
Masisi promised that he would not let Bakgatla down during his presidency.
“I promise you that no matter what challenges I will face, I have taken an oath and I will live by it. If there are any people who think they will derail me, they will not succeed. Only votes cast by people will determine my future.
I will do my job diligently guided by God. I have same powers as all former presidents. I promise to continue where they left of and pave way for the next president,” he said.
For his part, Kgosi Kgabosetso II Mosielele who was the brains behind the celebration said it was important that they celebrated one of their own being president.
“We had to celebrate him, wish him well and pray for him hence this ceremony. We honour and love him as Bakgatla. He has been persistent after losing elections in 2004.
He did not give up and won elections in 2009, he was then appointed a minister, later Vice President, and he is now at the helm of the country. We celebrate him and encourage him to do well for all Batswana,” he said.
Masisi was showered with gifts including 18 cattle, small stock and cultural artifacts amongst other gifts.
