Mankgantai left behind after passport saga

Mankgatai's passport was accidentally soaked in water, a few minutes before today's departure, and it was not possible for immigration officials to scan the wet page.

Botswana Football Association (BFA) spokesperson, Tumo Mpatane said it was going to be costly to wait for the player to process a new passport.

'It was going to cost us P6million, if we had delayed the chartered flight. He will get a new passport before the end of the day. The player will train with the Under-23 side and then travel to Francistown to join up with the rest of the team when it returns from Burkina Faso,' Mpatane said.

The Zebras have already lost some training hours, after refusing to train on Monday over unpaid allowances. The money was sent to the players' accounts on Monday night, and the team resumed training on Tuesday, before flying out to West Africa this morning, via a chartered plane.

The team is in desperate need of a win, as the Zebras anchor Group I, without a point from two matches.

Coach, David Bright will hope that the off the field distractions will not have a bearing on the team's performance, against a tough Stallions side. The Zebras' visit to Burkina Faso two years ago ended in a 2-1 defeat which ended the charges interest in the AFCON qualifiers.
