Paul reportedly engaged sheriffs to confiscate Gunners kit.

The sheriffs brought a court order that allowed them to attach some assets owned by the Peleng side. Gunners officials were summoned to court last year for failure to comply with a court order that instructed them to pay Paul.

Gunners public relations officer, Edwib Mabapa said the issue was settled to allow the game to proceed.

“We reached a settlement to allow the game to proceed. Actually we had been waiting for them (sheriffs) all along,” he said.

Gunners owe the former national Under-23 coach from his time with the club during the 2015/2016 season.

On the field, the goalless game was evenly contested with an eventless first half.

Both teams retained possession while goalkeepers at both ends had a quiet opening period. But Gunners cranked up the pressure with the returning Kenanao Kgetholetsile hitting the visitors’ posts in the 39th minute.

Kgololo Kgogobi alongside Katlego Mothibi crossed more balls into Bokamoso Moeba’s posts.

Eliphias Nyambe’s effort was wide for Police XI five minutes from the break after Otlaantshekela Mooketsi had brought down Dikgakgamatso Kesolofetse inches from the penalty zone.

The Jungle Kings removed Mkhululi Dube for David Makakaba while Otlaadisa Manyika made way for Phenyo Molefhe.

Whaza Seleka cleared on the Gunners goal line after Nyambi sent in a cracker through a forest of legs in the 51st minute.

Mandla Mgadla was introduced as Ofentse Mmipi made way while Thabo Metlhayotlhe took Emmanuel Machinyamade’s place.

Both teams increased attempts at goal with Gunners on top towards the end. However, the match ended goalless.

Police XI coach, Maitumelo Lotlaamoreng said a point was better than nothing.

“A point is better than nothing. My team played well considering that we just came from festive break,” Maitumelo said.

“We could have scored on numerous attempts. My team needs to improve more on team work.”

His counterpart, Daniel Nare was unavailable for comment.
