BDF have not dropped points since the beginning of the 2016/2017 season.

Angels were the first to bat through their captain and pitcher, Bokhutlo Molekane.

The player walked to the first base after three straight balls by BDF pitcher.

The second man to take the bat was Archie Kgosiyang who was unlucky as he went out after receiving three strikes.  The move was a motivation for Molekane who caught his opponents off guard to make a run and get a point for his side in the 11th minute.

BDF first inning saw Obusitswe Lekgothu get a free base after straight balls by Molekane. He was followed by left handed batter, Kabo Matlho.

Being on the other side of the plate made pitching difficult for Angels pitcher, which saw him hit a long ranger. Matlho’s brilliant play ensured an opportunity for Lekgothu to score for BDF in the 19th minute. BDF brought a point home through Josphat Seakane a few minutes later.

Angles came into the second inning with a better approach, forcing their opponents to make errors.

The side capitalised on those mistakes to get a point through Royas Moyombuya in the 32nd minute.  Angels’ score changed the complexion of the game as BDF went for the kill. The army side made some changes taking out three players and replacing them with fresh legs.

BDF dominated the game taking their score line to 10 and making sure they go back to Mogoditshane with maximum points.

Speaking to Monitor Sport after the match, Angels captain, Molekane said they knew that playing against BDF was not a walk in the park.

He said their game plan was to play to their best capabilities and get something out of the game.

“We were ready for the game. Our offence and defence were not bad.  We even scored. We were killed by concentration lapse,” he said.

“BDF has the experience and depth. That worked for them.” He said their opponents’ substitutions worked for the soldiers.

For his side, BDF coach Tapologo James Moremedi said his aim was to check his defence because the league is starting. “I brought pitchers that I rate so that there is ball contact and the defence can work.

I was not happy because our opponents did not challenge us,” Moremedi said.

He said Angels scored through their own mistakes and those are the things he is going to work on at training.
