�Satanist� hacks three-year-old to death

The girl's father initially thought she was holding the head of a doll. The grisly incident happened late Thursday between five and six o’clock.

Although details were still sketchy at press time, sources close to the case’s investigations alleged that the 17-year-old girl gruesomely hacked the deceased’s head off using an axe.

“The deceased and the perpetrator were neighbours. She akilled him while he was still sleeping.

 Initially, he was sleeping in the living room, but the girl took him into her bedroom where she chopped off his head. When she exited the house, her father saw her holding the head,” said the source.

The equally non-plussed source added: “The alleged perpetrator’s father at first thought that his daughter was holding the head of a doll, but nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw that the head was oozing fresh blood.

It was only then that he shockingly discovered that the head that his daughter was holding was that of their three-year-old neighbour.

The matter was then reported to the police who found the suspect still holding the head as if exhibiting it. They  later took her to Jubilee Clinic for psychiatric evaluation.”

The death has shocked Francistown residents and has since gone viral on social media platforms with commentators likening the macabre act to scenes from horror movies.

When Mmegi visited Area S on Thursday morning, people along the main road leading to the location were talking in hushed tones bout the gruesome incident.

At Area S shopping complex, Mmegi found a lot of people in groups also whispering fearfully about the horrid matter.

They admitted that the incident had shocked them to the bone because it was the first time in their lives to hear of such a ghastly act, more so that it happened in their neighbourhood and was allegedly committed by a minor.  They stated that it is difficult to fathom what clearly happened because the alleged perpetrator was a young girl while the victim was a three-year-old child.

“I know the young girl who allegedly killed the child. I know her as a quiet and obedient child who respected adults very much.

I am still finding it hard to believe that she is the one who killed the child,” said a young man, a neighbour of both the alleged killer and the deceased.

The deceased’s aunt, Dintle Otukile, confirmed the incident.

She said that she was still coming to terms with why her neighbour, whom she described as a good child who would never pass elders without greeting them, decided to do what she did.

“I am totally at a loss about what happened. Nobody in his or her lives  can imagine that my sister’s son would lose his life in this cruel manner. We are very surprised because the deceased and perpetrator were best of friends despite their huge age difference.

What totally surprised us again is the fact that the accused was getting tutorial lessons at our place and is a regular churchgoer. She used an axe to chop off the head of the deceased,” said the grieving Otukile, who could not rule out Satanism as  being behind the incident.

 The Divisional commander north, Seabe Maboka, confirmed the incident Thursday, briefly saying police investigations into the matter were still ongoing.
