It all started when Cassper Nyovest re-posted on Twitter to a newspaper article that headlined ‘I turned down Cassper Nyovest - Kast’. In his response Cassper Nyovest said, “I’m a bit lost. Who is Kast? What does he do?”

This did not settle well with many Batswana tweeps who clapped back at Cassper Nyovest as they supported Kast.

This whole drama was caused by the fact that Kast said Cassper Nyovest’s team once approached him asking if they can partner with him on the Tlatsa Lebala project, but the local rapper turned them down saying this is an event designed for strictly local artists.  “This is before they went to fill up a stadium in Namibia,” Kast said.

After Cassper Nyovest’s tweet a number of people were against the rapper supporting Kast as they labelled Cassper Nyovest someone who just sees Botswana as a gold mine where he comes to perform get money and go whilst he is always saying he has nothing but love for Botswana. However, communication with Cassper Nyovest or his team was not successful and has since gone silent on the issue.

This led to a hashtag supporting Kast and Tlatsa Lebala dubbed #IKnowKast, which has since gone viral. Kast has gone to be the most discussed subject on different social media platforms with many reposting #IKnowKast and sharing messages to Kast.

Many people had lost faith in Kast after he failed to host the event last year, he was labelled many things by people and he was even labelled a fraudster up to until the Cassper Nyovest tweet.

He has since received support and motivation from different people within the Showbiz industry such as DJ Izzy, Apollo D, Masie Hule and general Batswana.

According to Kast, it seems the two rappers have met each other some time back, “I used to see him back then at shows when he was still a boy when he used to come with HHP for performances”.

However, critics have come up with different conspiracies regarding this matter.  Some state that Cassper Nyovest is bitter that the coalition between him and Kast was not successful while some are saying this is a publicity stunt that is being used to promote Tlatsa Lebala.

Kast recently announced that he will be walking from Gaborone to Maun as a sponsored walk to raise funds for the event. One notable person to support the rapper is former Miss Botswana Emma Wareus, who came out to say she will walk with the rapper to raise funds for the event.

She posted on Twitter saying, “If you know someone, or are someone, from Kasts team please contact mevia inbox. I’m walking with Kast #supporteachother #whoamI?(sic)”.

Cassper Nyovest recently stated that he wants to fill up the Botswana National Stadium and a number of locals supported him as they shunned Kast saying he is an embarrassment as he will be outclassed by the South African rapper. It seems the tables have turned since most of the support has gone to Kast now.
