The matches, organised by the African Football Legends, are meant to raise funds for the Nelson Mandela and Kanu Heart Foundations. The first leg takes place in Lagos, Nigeria on April 8 before the return fixture in Johannesburg, South Africa on May 6.

South African legends such as Lucas Radebe, Benni McCarthy, Shaun Bartlett, Phil Masinga and Aaron Mokoena are all expected to feature. Radebe has been named as the Local Organising Committee Chairman for the South African game. Nwankwo Kanu will chair proceedings for the Nigeria game.

Selolwane is expected to rub shoulders with other accomplished football names such as Abedi Pele, Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Jay-Jay Okocha in an all star cast.

Selolwane is elated to take part in such a high profile match for a noble cause. “I am humbled and honoured. I wanted to do the same for BOT50 but things did not work out. God always finds a way of rectifying things. Soon we will bring games to Botswana like I have always wanted,” he told Mmegi Sport yesterday. Selolwane is the African Football Legends Botswana chapter chairperson. Meanwhile, African Football Legends secretary general, Moo Muhammad said Jomo Sono has been unveiled as the president of the organisation for the next eight years.

Nwankwo is the first vice president while Abedi Pele is the second, with Samuel E’to, Okocha, Didier Drogba, Hassan Mido, and Benni McCarthy as executive chairmen. “They coordinate, lead and approve all events and activities of the organisation,” Muhammad said.
