In November, Tefo Seetso protested for hours at Woodhall Post Office, disrupting activities, while demanding payment for Ipelegeng work. The Lobatse Town Council suspended him from the short-term employment programme until the beginning of March.

Seetso was also slapped with a letter of dismissal from the board of his WDC for “continuous misconduct”.

In the letter written by town clerk Oganne Gontse, the local authority said Seetso’s conduct violated WDC regulations.

“Following meetings held with yourself and Woodhall 1 WDC on the 11/03/16, 17/03/16 and 25/08/16 respectively concerning your misconduct, your membership is withdrawn from Woodhall 1 WDC.

“In the last meeting, the committee explained their concerns about your misconduct and you also agreed that you wronged the committee in the past and promised to change your behaviour.

“While the issue at hand was still being discussed, you proved your aggression by shouting to the officer and the chairperson using impolite words. The attention was brought to you that you contravened WDC regulations, especially section 9, sub section 2 (c),” the letter reads.

The letter further reads: “Based on this background and on the fact that 2014 WDC regulations states that the council may, by notice or writing remove a member from office where a member contravenes a provision of these regulations or otherwise misconducts himself or herself to the detriment of the objectives of the committee,  you are removed from Woodhall WDC with immediate effect as your actions show that you are not capable of fulfilling VDC/WDC main objective of facilitating development of the community.”

Seetso told Mmegi he was shocked by the decision to remove him from the WDC committee and said he believed the move had sinister motivations.

“I am very shocked as to why I was expelled from the WDC. It is a well-planned revolution against me. These people know very well that I always question their deeds.

They don’t like that. They don’t like being made to account. Right now they are planning to build an office for the WDC.

I told them that they will have to account for every thebe. That was my insult to them,” a fuming Seetso said.

Seetso vowed to challenge the decision before courts.

“The procedure to suspend me, expel me was not rightfully executed. You can’t just expel someone on petty reasons. I will be approaching the courts in order to seek for intervention,” he said. Gontse was unavailable for comment by press time.
