Ake Arts & Book Festival is four days of cultural immersion. The Arts and Book Festival aims to showcase the very best of contemporary African literature, poetry, music, art, film and theatre.

The theme for this year is Fantastical Futures, with events and conversations focusing largely on a re-imagined African future

The band front man ,Tomeletso Sereetsi said he got the booking as a result of his speaking engagement at the Gaborone Book Festival.

“I made a presentation on documenting the four string guitar of Botswana at the city’s inaugural book fest and caught the eye of the Ake Festival director, Lola Shoneyin who was in attendance. I believe she liked what she saw and checked out my music and booked for her festival, which is the biggest literary and arts festival in Africa,” he said.

Sereetsi further said that he is booked both as an author and a musician (both as Tomeletso Sereetsi and Sereetsi & The Natives).  “I will perform alongside some of the best Nigerian musicians on October 26th and also form part of a musicians panel that will be discussing music as an agent during the talks sessions,” he highlighted.

As part of their aim to develop, promote and celebrate creativity on the African continent, Ake Festival 2018 will feature book chats, art exhibition, a stage play, an in-depth interview, school visits, stimulating panel discussions, film and documentary screenings, a musical concert and a night of poetry performance. A range of affordable books at the Ake Festival Bookstore will thrill book-lovers and visitors.
