Keorapetse was speaking at the launch of BCP candidate for Boikago/Madiba ward by-elections Area Gabathuse who would contest against Botswana Democratic Party (BDP)‘s Thabo Dimeku.

The launch was thronged by multitudes of people, which gave the party hope that they will win the ward on January 21.

Keorapetse said that Goya is failing Palapye dismally, which has been growing at an alarming rate hence having the potential of boosting the country’s economy.

He said there are issues that Morupule B has been sold to a Chinese company but Goya has been silent on the issue and failed to raise it in Parliament.

“This is a clear indication that he has no interest in his people, he does not care about this village yet time and again he claims to be the catalyst behind the booming development of this area.

Morupule A has always been a problem as well, but the so called MP has never implored any measures. O itse gone go dropa fela mme o tla utwa are ke ene a thabolotseng Palapye, o raya a mo thabolola kae,” Keorapetse said.

He added: “So if you vote this Dimeku you are going to continue suffering because he will follow the same suite as his leaders. There will never be developments in Palapye. Do the right thing on the 21st so we can do away with these evil people, ba tetse tshenyo, lefufa, boloi, lenyatso, bodipa le bogodu”.

Another speaker of the day Botswana Miners and Workers Union (BMWU) general secretary Moffat Ramokate stated that the government has blood on its hands ever since BCL was closed.

He said deaths of former employees’ increases daily due to loss of hope. He said that there are about 20 people who have committed suicide due to the closure of the mine.

He therefore appealed to people to turn the deaf ear to BDP and its leaders until the situation of the mine sector is restored, particularly BCL and Tati mines which employed large numbers.

He warned Palapye residents about Morupule noting they should not be surprised if they hear that Morupule is being closed looking at the state of the country’s mining sector. He also urged the BMWU Morupule branch to speak to their parents so they vote for Gabathuse during the upcoming by-elections.

“We can no longer afford to give out trust to people who care less about our interest. Many people continue to lose their jobs and nothing is being done. It is time to stand up Batswana and fight back. This we can only achieve if we remove the ruling party,” he added.
