This publication has learnt that prior to a letter written complaining about his absence from party activities, Maeka had written a complaint letter to the party office complaining of use of demeaning words against him by the MP.

In his letter dated January 2, 2017 Maeka said, “This serves to raise a formal complainant against Moiseraela Goya on the demeaning words used against myself at a BDP political rally during a campaign of Boikago/Madiba on the 29 December 2016 on/around 5pm.

“On the above mentioned date during the rally, Hon. Goya ridiculed me in a rally stating as follows, “ga ke batle malope mo partying, o noga modulasetilo. Ga o a thamalala. A o a nkutlwa?”

Maeka says this has created animosity within the region and has greatly affected his comfort in trying to execute his mandate of branch chairperson.

In addition, the chairperson said the words uttered by the MP had made him uncomfortable in trying to address and participate in the party activities.

He said those demeaning words were uttered at a time when they were campaigning for the Boikago/Madiba ward and could threaten unity and cohesion amongst the leadership, which is critical. The chairman said the words uttered have not only created disunity amongst himself and the MP but also amongst some members of the party.

“The words have caused embarrassment and frustration amongst some members of the party and have also encouraged the opposition to attack our party on the basis of disunity amongst us. This could impact the ongoing Boikago/Madiba ward campaign,” it says.

The chairperson requested that intervention be done quickly to resolve the matter.

Maeka confirmed that he has written a complainant letter to the party office.

Efforts to get comment from Goya were unsuccessful, as he was not answering his mobile phone. The BDP secretary general, Botsalo Ntuane said they will not be dealing with any issue until after the by-election.
