Tlatsa Lebala Organisers To Compensate For Postponement

The man behind the brand, Tshepiso Molapisi also known as Kast in the music industry told Showtime that while he could not get into much details as to the specific reason why the event was postponed, they will find a way to compensate those who had already bought tickets so that they don’t feel cheated. He said that they would upgrade some of the tickets for those who had already bought them.
The event was cancelled on Friday but the organisers have remained mum on the reasons that led to the postponement.
“This regrettably serves as a postponement announcement of the Tlatsa Lebala festival initially scheduled for 20th October 2018 to a further date of 2018.
The postponement comes after consistent consultation of stakeholders as Tlatsa Lebala campaign and festival is a multi-stakeholder project.
The event date announcement is to be announced on Monday. The ticket sale points and prices remain the same,” the organisers announced through their Facebook page on Friday without providing details that led to the postponement. It is not the first time this festival was postponed as it happened with the inaugural event in 2016. Kast however said that they are working hard to make sure that the event finally takes place before the end of the year. He said that it was not an easy decision to postpone the festival but it was an “issue that was beyond all of us”.
“Its not like we all wanted the event to be postponed as you know the Tlatsa Lebala campaign has a board. But it was an issue beyond all of us.
It’s more than just logistics or ticket sales. We did don’t care if we host an event that would be deemed unsuccessful. But we are not in a position to say what was the issue until maybe after the meeting of the board tomorrow (Monday),” said Kast. A 100% local line-up for this year’s festival that includes heavyweights such as Franco, Vee Mampeezy, Charma Gal, Slizer and many more had already been released.
Furthermore, Kast told Showtime that Tlatsa Lebala is not just about profit but also has the social aspect.
Kast said that they hope to announce a new date after the Monday board meeting, which he said it has to be in the shortest time possible. Early this year, Kast walked 2000 KM with six others, two administration personnel, two production assistants, two volunteers and a co-walker lobbying for the establishment of the arts council. However, unlike the previous walk there was no much fanfare about it.
