Umpires made sure that their complaints were dealt with by refusing to handle some first round matches.  The two bodies met on Wednesday evening to discuss the matter and it has since been sorted out. BSA spokesperson, Kelebogile Seitei told Mmegi Sport yesterday that the leadership met on Wednesday and they were informed that the matter has been resolved.

She said last weekend, seven umpires came to the ground for games but unfortunately teams did not turn up. “Panthers (women) did not turn up for their game against Titans and Gideon Warriors did not honour their clash against Bears. We have since docked points from those teams that failed to honour their fixtures,” she said.

Meanwhile, the race for the BoFiNet Softball League title continues this weekend. The first match to kick off week eight of the league is between Bears (men) and Police IX at the National Diamond tomorrow.

On Saturday afternoon an interesting fixture is between log leaders, BDF IX  (men) and Blue Angels.

The match starts at 2pm at the National Diamond. Angels go into the match after a tough first round where they lost four matches in a row. Angels player/coach, Molekane Bokhutlo said they expect tough opposition from BDF.

“We have not been doing well since the beginning of the league. Our main challenge is that we do not have reliable players. Most of them are always committed at work and in some instances we did not play some matches because we did not have enough players,” he said.

Bokhutlo said on Wednesday they lost six players to other clubs. He said those who remained behind are committed to the club.

He said ever since Botswana Defence Force (BDF) abandoned them, the club has been in disarray due to lack of sponsorship. Angels also take on league debutants, Eagles on the same day.
