Keetshabe, who is now the Director of Public Prosecutions, served as Molokomme’s deputy six years ago before he was appointed general counsel in the Office of the President (OP) in May 2011. Sources in the legal circles are of the view that Keetshabe will get the nod very soon.

Keetshabe previously served as the chief legal advisor and resident attorney for the Office of the President (OP) as a whole. Prior to that he served as a chief state counsel at the AG’s Chambers. At the time of his appointment to the OP,  Ramsay said: “Keetshabe brings to his new position a wealth of professional experience and achievement.

“He studied during the period 1981-1986 at the University of Botswana, in conjunction with the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and was conferred a Bachelor of Law Degree.”

Keetshabe had controversially resigned from the civil service two months before his OP appointment amid speculation that he was unhappy about being overlooked for more a senior position. In a rare turn of events, he however, withdrew his resignation. Ramsay confirmed that currently the deputy AG Morulaganyi Chamme is acting for the position.
