Phikwe hosts Standard Chartered golf tournament

The club's competition secretary, Gabriel Tjitjo, said that the tournament starts at 10am and will be over by 2pm.'We expect the prize giving to be done around 3pm,' he said. He mentioned that some golfers have complained about late invitation but he expressed hope that the attendance will be good. He said that the club will be hosting the Central Open in May and hence it is good for players to take part in the Standard Bank tournament to get used to the course. The annual Central Open will be a two-day event.

Tjitjo commended Botswana for finishing fifth in the just-ended Zone VI tournament held last week at the Gaborone Golf Club. He said that this was a brilliant performance by Botswana in a tournament that had good players. 'These countries have good developmental programmes starting from juniors up to the seniors.

Botswana has just started. At the moment, we are working hard on our development side.  We have to be proud of our performance and the team that took part showed that we can do better next time,' said Tjitjo.
