Magosi, who recently parted ways with mobile phone giants Huawei, have been without a major sponsor for a while.

Speaking at the launch Chiefs’ board chairman, Raymond Tsheko said the partnership comes at a time when the new Botswana Football Association leadership wants paradigm shift for the clubs to move towards professionalism.

Tsheko said the partnership is non-cash but rather it is in kind with both parties benefiting from the services they provide. “Chiefs strive to achieve ultimate professionalism. As a football club we need to have a fully equipped medical staff. We will not divulge much on the value of the partnership, but what I can say is that we have a good offer. This is what we have been waiting for,” he said.

For his part, Boitekanelo Group of Companies president and founder, Dr Tiroyaone Mampane said they found it fit to be associated with a football club of Chiefs’ stature as they continue to improve healthy living in the society. He said they will provide the club with a medical team that will work with the team on a daily basis.

He said the medical team includes a physiotherapist, psychologist, team doctor, nutritionist and dietician. He also said they will provide Magosi with a club house that will be used prior to match days and as a point where the team will sell its merchandise. “This is also a platform for our students to interact and learn from the Chiefs’ players and draw inspiration from them as these guys are role models in the society,” he said. He further said the college will offer the playing staff at Chiefs tuition for courses of their choice at a limited price.

Both parties did not divulge the value of the partnership but it is reported to be around P900,000 per season. Meanwhile, the club announced local sportswear company 90minutes Plus as the new technical partner, replacing another local label, Dlala.

The club also launched the new kit to be used for the rest of the season. Chiefs’ traditional horizontal black and white strip will be used as the home kit while the black kit with a touch of vertical fading white stripes is the new away kit.

The team has been a shadow of itself this season as they sit 12th on the log. Magosi will be looking to start the New Year on a high note when they travel to Nico United over the weekend.
