Prison XI go for Fighters' jugular

Prisons XI are still hopeful of toppling Black Peril who lead the competition with four points and make a return to the Premier League. Black Peril meet Masitaoka seeking to strengthen their charge for the title and automatic qualification. They lead the log with 37 points with Prisons XI trailing with 33.

Fighters are currently on position four with 28 points with three games still to go. They would not qualify even for the Premier League promotion play-offs if they win all their remaining games. They are still to forfeit six points as per the sentence imposed on them after last season's debacle when they were found guilty of 'giving away' their play-off game to Jwaneng Comets after realising that their slide from top-flight football is unstoppable.

Though Prisons XI coach Moitepedi 'Juluka' Rankhudu says he is not under pressure going into the game against Fighters, this could turn out to be a tricky assignment for him and his charges. Under former stars Joel Chonga and Barney Marman, Fighters have very little to lose while Rankhudu has everything to fight for.

'I still believe we could end up top of the log because this is football, leading the log does not mean you have won the championship. Basically, Peril have an equal chance as us of making it to the Premier League because you never know what could happen now.

''We just need to get maximum points against Fighters this weekend and then win away to Mathaithai. But we should not concentrate much how on Peril plays but rather focus on our own games. We will see what happens this weekend and would then know of how realistic our chances are, whether the championship would be within reach or we would go to the play-offs,' Rankhudu said.

Third-placed Letlapeng travel to Tlokweng for a date with Tlowkeng United before taking on Eastern Tigers at SSG Ground on Sunday. The Letlapeng-Tigers' game was abandoned with less than 15 minutes to go due to rainfall last Sunday. The decision irked Letlapeng officials.

To add insult to injury, the game was re-scheduled to the SSG Ground in Gaborone and Letlapeng officials claimed this is an act of sabotage.
