Fans set to drink up Charma Gal's lemonade

With the festive season mood almost upon us, Mosakaso queen Charma Gal has given her fans something to look forward to in what looks like a very exciting period for fun lovers. The Sekuta sa Ga Charma Gal hitmaker has released her third studio album called Lekgamu La Bananyana, which promises to be better than the previous one. The album has eight songs and a launch has been scheduled for November 24, 2018.
While the talented singer has been attracting bad publicity this year following court battles with her ex-lover and businessman, Resego ‘Leshman’ Matenge over the custody of their son, all seems to be shaping beautifully for the 35-year-old Lerala-native.
The album could be the right prescription from the doctor to end the year on a high after such a difficult year. Although not as hyped as the previous album, her producer Thabo ‘Uncle Touch’ Moswaane believes they have worked hard to give out the best music.
That she has also received a booking to perform in the United Kingdom this weekend is the cherry on top to forget all her recent troubles. The songs on the album include the title track Lekgamu la Bananyana, Gomaweneno, Banyana, Ga ke tle Gae, Lekarate, Motlakase, Bagaetsho and Superlady.
Listening to the songs, one could see that Charma has maintained the rhythm and creative edge that has seen her win the hearts of many since diverting from the traditional music to mosakaso. With the first song, she immediately gives her fans something to dance to. Charma Gal’s fans should look out for the song Motlakase, which promises to be a hit.
It has the real kwasa kwasa rhythm with heavy drums.
A slamming, beautiful song indeed in which she features another talented guitarist and singer, Danny bass. She continues to show her versatility by fusing in different melodies in this album and featuring foreign artists as she did in the Ke ya Mmokolodi album when she collaborated with Zimbabweans Jah Prayzah and Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi. This time she goes all the way to Zambia.
She is optimistic that the album will take her career to another level after what many perceived a dip in the previous album.
“I haven’t changed and have just maintained my key. Everyone has their key and I can’t copy Franco’s key and he also can’t do mine,” she said during a press briefing held on Tuesday afternoon at BotswanaCraft Marketing.
Having parted ways with Leshman who also served as her manager, Charma Gal has partnered with promoter Lekopanye ‘Lecco’ Kenosi of Leccotainment Promotions Company to promote this album. Lecco said that preparations for the album launch are ongoing. “I am going to promote and launch this album. The launch will be on November 24 at the UB Amphitheatre. We are going to have a short lineup to allow people to enjoy the music,” he said. Lecco said that they opted to have a short lineup for the launch. This includes kwasa kwasa maestro, Franco, MMP Family, Dramaboi, Mlesho, DJ Arch Jnr and Culture Spears. He said that tickets for the launch are sold at P150 and can be purchased at all Liquorama stores. He said that they would donate some of the money collected from ticket sales to charity.
