Mad Cobra's Venom Stuns Kurupt

The two clashed during The Voyage contest that was held at Boipuso Hall on Friday night.
The Mad Cobra from Delta Force Boxing Academy made boxing seem easy when he punished Kurupt of Bond Boxing Gym. Initially, when the bout started, The Mad Cobra was expected to fight as a southpaw and Kurupt as orthodox.
The Mad Cobra changed his game plan and surprised his opponent by switching to orthodox. He started the first round by measuring his opponent with the right hand, Kurupt was in a foul mood as he went on attack. It seemed like Kurupt wanted to go for a TKO as he continued launching attacks on The Mad Cobra.
That was not to be the case as the Zimbabwean stood his ground. The Mad Cobra turned the tables on his opponent as he put him on the canvas and threw jabs on him towards end of the half.
In the second round, The Mad Cobra started teasing Kurupt around the ring. Kurupt did not have time for that as he continued going for attack. His attempts were not enough as The Mad Cobra was intelligent enough to put up his guard all the time.
The Mad Cobra missed Kurupt with a left and that was an opportunity for Kurupt to go for two quick jabs. The bell saved him as The Mad Cobra was on attack. The Mad Cobra nearly floored Kurupt in the fourth round after catching him with a hook.
Kurupt stumbled and dropped his mouth guard and that was his downfall. The Mad Cobra started dancing inside the ring as he rained blows on his opponent. Kurupt had no answers to the questions that were being asked by The Mad Cobra.
Speaking to Sport Monitor, The Mad Cobra said he was simply fulfilling his promise that he was going to punish Kurupt.
“He is a small boy. I was giving him boxing lessons. They knew that I am a southpaw boxer, so they planned for that and trained for a southpaw. So I came as an orthodox and that caused confusion. I just played with them. I was just playing that as introduction to the school of boxing,” he confidently said.
The Mad Cobra said he was the toughest opponent that Kurupt has ever had in his boxing career. He said as he continued hitting him hard, Kurupt was feeling dizzy, he started dancing so that he recovered.
“That was the strongest jab from a southpaw and it was like a killer punch. I know that orthodox people think their right hand is a killer punch, but I caught him off guard,” he said. For his part, Kurupt said The Mad Cobra was a tough opponent.
He said the right jab that landed on his cheek affected his performance.
“I was trying to change my stance when he attacked. The Mad Cobra is a hard-worker and I accept the outcome.
“When you are in the ring, you do not realise other things like making sure that the guards are up all the time,” he said.
Other bouts: Loago Gaasego receiving a baptism of fire from Freeman Mabongwe in the junior middleweight bout. Mabongwe won through a TKO.
Onkarabile Mothibedi beat Tshepo Khutloen while Thabiso Mpolokeng pulled the biggest win of the night against Tinashe Mutoza in the superbantam weight division.
