The event moved from its usual venue of Motse Lodge to Ga Maila Out Door Arena, but that did not affect the crowd attendance as the revelers came in large numbers. Performances of the day were kick-started by Franco, and at the time people were still coming in, and those already inside were settling in. The most electrifying performance of the night was by the energetic Dr. Malinga who managed to get the crowd on their feet in response to hits he performed which included Oteng, Dibiri and Moon Light feat Team Distant.

Most of the local artists did not have much response from the crowd, but that changed around 11pm when the local house kwasa sensation, Vee Mampeezy hit the stage with his mouthwatering performances. He sparked the revelers with his older songs such as Letlhale and Pompa-tswidi.

Trompies, which most people seemingly came to see, hopped on stage in the early hours of 2017. The ageing kwaito crew did not disappoint as they dished fascinating performances. The group performed songs like Sweety Lavo and Madibuseng. Revelers sang along to most of their songs. As if they were not doing enough they paused in the middle of their performance to pray for the New Year led by Jairus ‘Jakarumba’ Nkwe.

Revelers enjoyed the quartet’s performances so much that they begged for more after their performance. “We are happy with the response we usually get from the audiences in Botswana. Music is love, the crowd is always loving,” Jakarumba said.

Quizzed on whether they are planning to do collaboration with any local artist Jakarumba stated that they are open to do collaboration with anyone in Botswana, but it will depend on the talent of that particular individual.
