Wanderers player dies in car accident

 

Murirwa also died in a car accident on Friday, just a few kilometres from Sua Town where he was returning from Francistown.

Matoteng, born in  Tumasera, met his fate in Radisele as he was driving from Palapye. Palapye Police Station Traffic Officer assistant superintendent Ntshesane Rammapudi confirmed the accident.

He said the accident occurred in the early hours of Monday. “The accident involved a Run X vehicle that apparently overturned at Radisele and the driver lost his life on the spot. The cause of the accident is still unknown and our investigations are on-going,” he said. 

Wanderers’ chairperson Nelson Kgosipheko said the club had met with the parents of the deceased and the police to identify the body of the deceased.

 “It’s a huge loss to our club and to his family. He was a key player for us and he had invaluable experience. The club is distressed with the news.”

The 29-year-old joined Wanderers three seasons ago from Mahalapye Hotspurs. He is a well-travelled player who played for Nico United and Orapa United among other clubs.
