Christmas Day ‘Kwa Ga Iyene’

Over 10000 children this morning received Christmas gifts from President Ian Khama at his Serowe residence at Palamaokue ward popularly known as “Kwa Ga Iyene”.
Every Christmas Day children from Serowe and surrounding villages gather at Khama’s house for the Christmas hampers handed out by the president. 
“Every year the number of children increases by 10 percent. This year we had expected just over 10000 children,” said an official from Office of The President (OP). Some of the children who were first in line said they had arrived ‘Kwa Ga Iyene’ at 4am to be ahead in the long queue. Khama, who was accompanied by his family, started handing out hampers at exactly 9am. 
Khama’s house, which used to be Seretse Khama’s, was this year decorated by Limkokwing University with a big Christmas tree. Speaking before the hampers’ handout, Limkokwing’s Mercy Thebe said Limkokwing would put up the Christmas tree at the house every year.Every Christmas Day children from Serowe and surrounding villages gather at Khama’s house for the Christmas hampers handed out by the president.
