Sua Flamingoes’ Murirwa died when the car he was driving swerved off the road after a suspected tyre burst and hit a tree near Sowa Town last Friday.

Murirwa was with three of his teammates; two are recuperating in Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital while the third was treated for minor injuries and discharged. Satter will be laid to rest in Francistown’s Area-S tomorrow. Morupule Wanderers player, Matoteng will also be laid to rest on Saturday at Rasesa Ward in his home village of Tumasera/Seleka.

Matoteng was driving alone from Palapye towards south when the car he was driving overturned.

First Division North secretary general, Rapula Gaotlhobogwe said they found it appropriate to suspend the league.

“This is to allow their teammates and former mates to pay their last respects,” he said noting that the league will resume next weekend.

Meanwhile, the battle in the First Division South continues. Mochudi Rovers have set the pace and are yet to concede a goal after three outings.

They have bagged five in their two wins and a single draw. On Sunday, they welcome a Mogoditshane Fighters side that has had a lacklustre start to the campaign.

Fighters lost two and drew one, conceding six and scoring two in their three games. They are in for a tough weekend in the Bakgatla capital if they intend reversing their fortunes.

A sumptuous encounter is expected when second-placed Black Peril meets Matebejane at Mogoditshane grounds on Saturday.

Peril replaced Matebejane in second position after the latter succumbed 1-0 to Broadhurst United last weekend.  Matebejane will be looking to make amends.Third-placed Gilport Lions, aiming for a swift return to the top flight, will be up against Blue Stars at Kgaphamadi Primary School Grounds on Saturday.

The former Premiership outfit is expected to push over Stars, who are sitting precariously in position 10 with a single point after three games.

In other games, Uniao Flamingo Santos meet Jwaneng Fighters at Gabane United Grounds while Black Rangers welcome Red Sparks at Tsabong Stadium on Saturday.

The other Sunday encounter pits Modipane United and Broadhurst United in Modipane. All games kick-off at 4pm.
