He told Arts & Culture that he started his career in the local music scene back in 2009 as a dancer.  Thintee then went on to release his first official single titled Gotlhe Kgosi in 2015, but it unfortunately didn’t receive the recognition he had hoped for from various local radio stations.

However, Thintee did not give up on his passion. He decided to work on his flaws and came back stronger than ever four years later.

Last month, he released a single titled Waste No Time. It was produced by The MXC and it features Yung Amazing (the artistic soul behind ATI’s Khiring Khorong and DoubleUp’s song Mokoti.  The song motivates people not to waste time on anything that might not be beneficial to their lives.

“I grew up a music lover and listening to every kind of music genre, but I fell deeply in love with hip hop. I chose to sing hip-hop motswako to also give my best within the industry.  I drew inspiration from local artists like Veezo View, ATI and DramaBoi.  Even though it was not easy making a name for myself when I started off my career, I am now excited as my comeback got recognition, which made me realise that this time around I might be doing something right. My single has gained recognition from different media platforms and I have a positive feedback from Batswana,” he proudly said.

He said he was trying hard to be unique and differentiate himself from other artists by being original and not copy other artistes. He confidently promised his fans that he will always work hard and come up with something different in order to attract more followers and dish out the best music ever.

As an upcoming artist, Thintee pointed out that he was facing many challenges including lack of funds.

He explained that studio, recording, mastering songs and cutting CDs together with printing sleeves were expensive and therefore needed one to have at least a sponsor.  He also said getting songs to be played in radio stations, getting gigs and marketing brands as young artistes proved to be the most difficult thing locally.

“I see my music taking me places in the coming years coz I am already getting calls abroad. I am already working on my next new single, which is due to drop end of November featuring Blaizey Fresh from South Africa,” he said.
