BotswanaPost employee granted bail

According to court papers, the accused is said to have stolen P611,818.45 between December 14 and 15, 2016 while employed as a supervisor. The 36-year-old was granted in bail on condition that he binds himself and his own recognisance in the sum of P1,000. He is also to provide one surety who will also to bind themselves in the same amount.

When granting Motsipa bail, Ndlovu ordered that the accused must attend court when he is required to do so. “The accused must not interfere with the state witnesses,” Ndlovu said.

In response to the bail conditions, Motsipa’s attorney Leonard Mosepele did not have any objections but pleaded with the magistrate that some items belonging to the accused must be released. “There is a medical form from Extension 2 Clinic given out to the accused after examination. However the form was seized by the investigation officer. There is also a phone (Hisense F20). I plead with you that the items be released as a case of assault is to be opened against the interrogators,” Mosepele said.

State prosecutor Onkemetse Modukanele of Broadhurst Police did not object to the bail but rather stated that the case is still under investigation and they are still waiting for the audit report from BotswanaPost. In response to the medical forms and the phone, Modukanele said the items seized might be useful in assisting in the investigations. Motsipa will appear for mention again on January 26, 2016.
