Okavango music festival returns

The NAMA award-winning artists from Namibia Makurunganga would make a return after gracing last year’s event. Other international acts include Chikuli Kirash, Mandota and Brother Alex.

Local acts include Kaybee, PK Maada, D-Funk, Bendroy, Yeyi Marassi, Young Spadi Rams, DJ Core and DJ Cooper.

In an interview with Showbiz, the event organiser Kaybee said on December 23 they will be a house hand over to the less privileged in Shakawe. She also said this year they would start early.

“We have also changed the venue because last year people couldn’t come because of the distance to the venue,” she said. Kaybee said they would like to cater for people who don’t have cars to drive to the event. She said they are waiting for sponsorship from councillors in Shakawe.

“We are hoping to get a proper stage when they assist us,” she said.

She said as the event founder she has achieved a lot including being nominated under the best contemporary gospel category in this year’s BOMU awards. “It gave me courage to push my passion in the music industry,” she highlighted.

Kaybee said she has been working on a single called Because of you. “It’s a festive song we will be rocking it at the Okavango Music,” she said. She said the tickets cost P40 at all Shoprite stores around the country.
