Francistowners Prepare To Party

The Monitor interviewed young adults on what makes their ideal festive and they all share one important commonality, in the face of the unexpected, each putting their children first striving to be the very best parents.
Sharing his life as a first time father, Gofamodimo Mothubane (25), a proud father of a seven months-old boy said he is excited because this festive season he is a father and will celebrate it with his son and future wife.
“We are prepared to celebrate this festive, especially that it will be our first time as parents. I feel blessed and it’s a good thing to be a father. These holidays I will be home with my family and will take them out for a special dinner on Christmas but as for the entire festive I will be home in Borolong with my mother, father and siblings,” said Mothubane.
Malebogo Omphile (28) of Serowe, a mother of a baby boy, said as a mother this is the time to relax with the family and look back at the entire year, reflect on their achievements and the New Year resolutions.
“As I spend most of my time in Francistown, this is the time for me to take my son home to meet his relatives and appreciate village life.
At the beginning of the year, I am hopeful that my son will be having a great story to tell to his peers at pre-school,” said Omphile adding that this is the time for her to enjoy her parenthood as a young mother free from work.
Caroline Ngebani (21) and the mother of a one year eight months-old daughter said festive is the time for her to relax at home having quality time with her daughter and her family.
“I will be camping and looking forward to the trip that I have planned with my friends somewhere in the outskirts of Francistown,” said
Ngebani.
Hillary Makgetho (32), a father of one, said this festive he will be going home at Zwenshambe where he spends his every Christmas with family.
“Usually I spend the festive with my extended family, slaughtering a goat or cow and later on during the day we go to watch football games at our village football tournament,” said Makgetho.
Keitumetse Dinama (25), a mother of two, said her plan this festive is to relax at home in Borolong village with her family and shower each other with presents.
“On Christmas day I am planning to cook a delicious meal for my family just to appreciate them. There is a football tournament in our home village and most of my time I will be out there watching the football games with my friends,” said Dinama.
Kwangu Lentswe (30), a mother a of two, said she will be taking a break from work and travelling home to Sebina to spend the festive with her family.
“Most of the time I am always away busy with work but this time around I will be home with my family and it’s a blessing. Work and school do not give me time to bond with my kids so being home together will be the best time ever,” said Lentswe.
Metlha Molapisi (32), a father of two, said as a young adult his ideal festive season is spending time with his kids and family.
“Usually during the year we meet for a short period of time over the weekends, during weddings and funerals hence the festive holidays give us ample time to relax together,” said Molapisi.
Tshepiso Lekwete (27), a mother of a baby boy, said festive is the time to get together with the people she loves, reflecting on the entire year and looking forward to the year 2017.
“Usually I spend Christmas with my family having a huge feast then the New Year’s Eve is for me and my friends celebrating and exchanging gifts,” said Lekwete.
