Kabelo Mogwe, who is the leader of Culture Spears, took the audience back in the day with most of the crew’s old songs such as Selonyana, Kulenyane, Selelo sa marema, Rato ke lone leo and Rrakwadiba. He also sang his latest song, Tonkana, following a break up with his former wife, Charma Gal.

However, during his performances Mogwe could not cease from giving the audience hints about his break up with his ex-wife. Before singing Kulenyane, he asked the audience if they could forgive someone who had stolen something precious from them and said he could not. He later asked them if he should forgive his ex-wife for having betrayed him or not.

Most of those in the audience who seemed intrigued by the evidently broken man screamed that the couple should reconcile while a handful said he must move on with his life. In the midst of the performance, Mogwe also asked the audience if he should remarry or go back home. He also told the audience that his crew has maintained a very good relationship with his fans in South Africa saying that maybe he had found a ‘yellow bone’ there or had worked things out with Charma Gal. He told them that they (Culture Spears and Charma Gal) will be touring SA together this festive season leaving many in the audience wondering if he was giving them hints that him and his ex-wife were back together.

However, Culture Spears performance was superb as the three dancers outdid themselves. They got the audience, that was evidently overwhelmed by their magnificent dances, dancing their feet off while others watched in admiration. Sereetsi & The Natives did not want to be left behind as they kept the dancing mood up with their spectacular performances. The crew’s songs which have blown the jazz industry away, Thaa Kokome and Robete got the audience dancing their heels off as they sang along.

However, BOSETU’s groups proved that the union indeed had talented people. Its choir sang beautiful melodies such as Modimo Rara among others. On the other hand, their traditional dance crew treated the audience with beautiful performances. It sang songs such as Lerotse.

The Master of Ceremony, Rragwe Tinana famed for his song Ba tlogele ba monose and Bagolo le dira botlhatswa spiced up the event with beautiful dance moves as he joined the BOSETU traditional group. The BOSETU band did not want to be left behind as it mesmerised the audience with some of the popular songs such as Ntsa e jele ntsanyana. In an interview with Showbiz, BOSETU publicity secretary, Edwin Maitshoko said the event was hosted for the sixth year.

“As teachers we are striving to promote culture. Botswana consists of multi-cultural people like Indians, Chinese, Zambians, Zimbabweans and others. The objective of this event is to exchange culture, learn cultures of different tribes and teach them our own,” he said. Maitshoko said the money raised during the event will be donated to charity.
