Orapa United on the other hand will be away to Angola’s Atletico Petroleos De Luanda in the CAF Confederations Cup. Rollers, now under the tutelage of Rodolfo Zapata, this time will not be travelling to the far end of the continent in the first round.
Last season they were drawn against South Sudanese side, Al Merreikh. However, they will have to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to face AS Vita if they manage to knockout Bantu FC.
AS Vita is Zebras striker, Onkabetse Makgantai’s former club. Rollers who were impressive in the last campaign, will be hoping for yet another good run in the competition. They became the first local side to reach the group stages. On their way to the group stages they dispatched Al Merreikh and Young Africans of Tanzania.
They were drawn in a tough group, which consisted of Tunisian giants, Esperance as well as Egyptian titans, Al Ahly. The group also had Ugandan side, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). They finished last in the group with four points.
Interestingly, Esperance and Al Ahly who qualified to the next round from the group pushed all the way to the final. Esperance eventually became the winners, defeating Al Ahly 3-2 on aggregate.
Orapa United takes the baton from Jwaneng Galaxy who were knocked out in the first round last season. Should they overcome the Angolan side, the Ostriches will proceed to take over the winner between Sudanese side, Al Ahly Shandi and AS Nyuki of DRC.
