Local Fashion Industry Growing In Leaps And Bounds

Modern Tswana Fashion Week is a fashion house bringing the indigenous culture and fitting it into modern lifestyle. This year they hosted their third Fashion Night out event, which took place over the weekend at Planet Lodge. Founder and chief organiser, James Chikumo explained to Showtime how their aim is to take the roots of the nation and sync them with modern lifestyle.

“Our aim is to showcase raw talent in our beautiful land and we feel like making it a once off event is not enough,” Chikumo said.

This year’s theme was My Fashion Night Out, which mainly focused on cutting edge fashion from both the fashion houses and the attendees of the event. The agenda was to promote locally designed labels, clothing brands and crafts, and to also merge the traditional Botswana and the modern day Botswana.

“This will promote Botswana traditional outfits and the urban clothing lifestyle thereby empowering local fashion designers, bloggers and fashion lovers,” mentioned Chikumo.   For an upcoming fashion event the feedback they are receiving is of great magnitude and the team behind it all stays grateful to all its supporters.

Designers and fashion houses present at the event include Trueville Clothing, Kreations Fashion House, YUSUF Clothing, Vintage Aroma, Maple Closet and Tswana Fusion Clothing just to mention a few.

On December 8, 2018 they will host their Modern Tswana Fashion Week launch party and people are encouraged to come in their numbers for a fun-filled event
