According the deputy director of protocol and public affairs, lieutenant colonel Fana Maswabi, the exercise code-named ‘Ex Pabalelo’ will commence on November 16, 2018 and end on November 29, 2018.

“The aim of the exercise is to promote interoperability among SADC Military Health Services components to practice combat medical support for the SADC Brigade forces deployed in Peace Support Operations as well as the provisions of humanitarian assistance to communities in the general area of operation,” Maswabi said.

The operation intends to achieve six objectives, including to enhance SADC Military Health Services (MHS) cooperation, and increase interoperability among SADC MHS components. It also seeks to validate draft SADC MHS doctrine.

Maswabi said the exercise is expected to bring together close to 400 military personnel from the participating member states.
