The track was released a fortnight ago. “Upon hearing our track Sedi laka, Malinga gave us a call and said he was interested on collaborating with us on a track for his album. We worked on the beat and his vocals were fused with the beat to come out with a complete song. We finished everything in October,” Team Distant manager Pukka Entaile said in an interview.  The fusion of the Team Distant production and Dr Malinga’s baritone vocals brings more life to the dance music track and the song is already playing in local radio stations. Moonlight is also available for downloads and streaming on various digital platforms.

Entaile noted that the collaboration with Dr Malinga has paved way for the ensemble to the international market.

“We are working on more international collaborations with artists that I cannot mention at the moment,” he said.  Team Distant has previously collaborated with South African artists such as African Roots and Adil.

Despite Team Distant releasing just one track this year, Sedi laka, critics have noted that the group has been slacking despite the song being played on all radio stations. “I deny those allegations.

Team Distant has been around but the industry as a whole has not been around. There were no shows and stuff,” he said.

He noted that the reason why Team Distant has not been releasing tracks this year is because they have been working on finishing up their album. “We also didn’t release our own music because we wanted to appreciate other artists,” he said.

This past Saturday saw Team Distant walking away with two Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs) on the best single dance and producer of the year award.
