Boteti East constituency primary election results were withheld due to irregularities reported to have happened during election day in August. Sethomo was battling it with four other contestants. He was voted by 2,723, with Gabotlale getting 2,066, Kenanao Michael Mmopi, 25, and Lilian Thanke, 373. “There are lot of things that I am not happy about and how the election was conducted. We are still going to meet with my team and decide a way forward on the matter,” Gabotlale said.

“Some of the issues that we complained about before and during the elections were never addressed. Some names that were there from previous voters roll were removed from this one.” He said the BDP Political Education and Elections Committee (PEEC) have failed to respond to some of the letters they wrote to them.

“This whole thing is shocking because only few wards had irregularities during elections and the region was supposed to deliberate on the matter. Even if the electoral board wanted to call for rerun it could have been those wards not the whole constituency,” Gabotlale said. He urged his supporters to stay calm before they could meet and deliberate on the matter.

He said one of the things that they had complained about was that Alec Seametso should not come to preside on their elections since he had taken side to support the current MP but they were not listened to.  However, Sethomo denied that Seametso was conflicted and stressed that his campaign was clean.
