Maele thwarted The Monitor’s attempts to seek clarity on the remarks he made at a meeting addressed by Khama in Goo-Moremi on Friday. He however declined to comment stating that he would not discuss anything in relation to what he had said.

Khama shared a video clip of Maele giving closing remarks at a meeting where he (Khama) was having a meal with residents and also handing out donations to the elderly.

The former Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services minister, who was dropped from Cabinet by Masisi shortly after ascending to presidency, spent 90% of his speech expressing his love for Khama and stating that he would never desert him as others have done.

“I am happy to see my former president I am happy to see my Kgosikgolo in good health. You can see that he is fresh.

He is indeed in good health. There is something that I want to tell you.

And I will not be ashamed to say it. If anything, you can take a gun and shoot me,” he said to a roar of ululations and whistling from the villagers.

“Our Kgosikgolo and former president has been surrounded by issues. And some of these coming from those he groomed. I want to tell you people of Moremi who sent me to Parliament that I am the last person to turn my back from him. We have been seeing lately people distancing themselves from him. They can all do that, but I will never do that.”

Maele said he was unshakable in his position in support for Khama. He said he cared less if he were to be killed or denied appointment.

“I know what I am saying. Those who have any intentions of taking my words anywhere, please do so quickly.

Tell them that I Prince Maele, the Lerala- Maunatlala Parliamentarian and his constituents said you can bring guns, but we stand right behind our Kgosikgolo. You can say whatever, this is our Kgosikgolo,” he said.

Maele said he had worked with Khama for just three and a half years and has never enjoyed life nor appreciated being a human being like he did in those years.

He said he was advised, guided and criticised where there was need and that to this day he still guides him.

Maele assured Khama that he and his constituents will always love and support him.

“I want to assure him that I am one of the people who love him and I am not the only one.

If people are harassing you, come to our constituency for refuge.

We will protect you. I will even relinquish my Parliamentary seat if there is anything wrong with what I said,” he said.

Maele has previously showed his love for Khama by giving him P250,000 as a farewell gift.
