Rangers End Winless Streak

It was Peril’s first loss of the season.
Rangers got in the game rooted at the bottom of the log, but showed character to overcome second-placed Peril in a game where three goals scored were ‘gifts’ from both goalkeepers while the other two were from the spot kicks.
It was the home side who had the first attempt at goal. Letsile Montsho tried from a tight angle as early as the third minute.
Three minutes later, another chance for Peril with Panzu Nsuka forcing a save from the goalkeeper.
Rangers got their first chance at goal in the 16th minute. Bonang Chabanga had flicked in a cross for Morebodi Haenanyana, but the winger shot wide. Two minutes later, the visitors were awarded a penalty after Isaiah Tika was brought down in the box. Haenanyana stepped up and beat the goalkeeper at the roof of the net to give his side the lead.
The home side were also awarded a penalty after the goalkeeper collided with Emmanuel Ditodi and Montsho sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the scores in the 37th minute. Two minutes later, Haenanyana squandered a chance to give his side the lead after he found himself in good space but let down by his finishing.
With three minutes to time, Ditodi broke away with pace but was denied by the goalkeeper on a one-on-one situation as the two teams went to recess level at 1-1. The visitors looked the better side in the early stages of the second half, but could not break the Peril defence.
In the 58th minute, Montsho went for a volley but his shot was blocked, the ball falling unto substitute Peter Olangi who shot wide. Peril showed rather desperate attempts to take the lead as in the 70th minute, Olangi shot from miles out but the ball went over the bar. Four minutes later, Rangers regained the lead. Metlha Buru’s shot was blocked by the defence. On second attempt the goalkeeper showed butter fingers and let the ball slip.
Gaonyatswe Ramokate took advantage and tapped in from close range.
In the 80th minute, Rietz flicked on for Haenanyana, but with only the goalkeeper to beat, he shot straight into his hands.
With six minutes to time, Peril goalkeeper, Innocent Selebogo gifted the visitors yet another goal, as he tried to deal with Rietz’s cross but somehow he could not handle the ball. Metlha Buru tapped in to extend the lead. Peril pulled one back in referee’s additional minutes as substitute Baboloki Tlhatlhego capitalised from the goalkeeper howler and slotted home as Rangers bagged their first win of the season.
“This will come as a motivation to us. We had gone seven games without a win so this will help boost our players’ morale going forward,” Rangers’ coach, Karabo Motlhagodi said after the game.
His counterpart Kaelo Kaelo rued schoolboy errors for his side’s defeat.
