The station commander of Kutlwano police, Neo Serumola confirmed the incident saying the woman was taken to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH).

He added that the woman’s injuries were not as serious as some people in the city had claimed. In fact, Serumola’s statement dispelled allegations that were flying thick and fast in the city claiming the woman later succumbed to her injuries.

“Our records show that only one woman sustained injuries when buyers scrambled to buy goods at Games Stores in the morning when the shop opened.

We had deployed our officers to monitor the situation because we were anticipating that injuries are common when shopping during events like Black Friday, which attracts a lot of people. The officers were also deployed to guard against incidents like breaking into and stealing from people’s cars and pick pocketing,” Serumola said.

He added the officers were also deployed to monitor the movement of traffic along the road opposite Nzano Mall.

All in all, Serumola said that no other major incidents were recorded as a result of the Black Friday shopping spree.
