Bully lover denied bail

Giving reasons why Gofaone Dinko should not be granted bail, sergeant Jacob Handly said that Dinko has a pending murder case in Mahalapye.

“The accused was granted bail in the murder case on condition that he does not commit any offence. However, he grievously injured his girlfriend and caused malicious damage to property last month at Gerald Estates. He also injured other people who tried to stop him from assaulting his girlfriend,” said Handly.

Handly added: “We fear that he may commit other offences if he is granted bail. His girlfriend is currently hospitalised at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in a very serious condition. Her condition may change for the worst and the accused may face a very serious case of murder”.

Asked to comment on what Handly said, Dinko said he had nothing to say.

When denying the accused bail, Magistrate Kaveri Kapeko said that the accused was given the opportunity to ask the investigating officer questions when he last appeared in court but he failed to do so.

“You shall therefore, be remanded in custody until December 12 for hearing on your application for bail. The prosecution is ordered to bring the investigating officer during that day,” Kapeko concluded.
