David failed to appear for his mention at Village Magistrate’s Court as scheduled when the prosecution was to commit to trial the case of the murder of former Fairgrounds Holdings CEO, Michael Montshiwa, to the High Court.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate Goodwill Makofi,  advocate Linchwe Tlhowe, representing the prosecution, disclosed having observed a trend of non-appearance of accused persons before court, which he pleaded with the court to look into.

“I am aware that the accused person has been displaying a trend of non-appearance.  Last time the matter was postponed because his attorney did not appear as well.  Do you want this court to issue a warrant of arrest against him,” Makofi said, asking for direction from the prosecution on the matter.

Tlhowe applied for a warrant of arrest to be issued against the accused person, a move the court endorsed.

David was allegedly the last person to communicate with Montshiwa minutes before the CEO’s fatal shooting in Block 6, Gaborone on October 18, 2015. He (David) has been out on bail after his arrest on December 2015.
