GU registered their second successive victory on Tuesday with a 2-0 score against Miscellaneous in Serowe to move to second position before yesterday’s matches.

It was their third win in four last matches, taking their points tally to 15. The victory comes just three days after they defeated Mochudi Centre Chiefs with the same score at the National Stadium.

The win against Chiefs came after Security Systems spoiled their party with a 2-1 victory. Before the loss to Security, GU had just hammered Green Lovers 3-0 in Serowe. Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, Zapata said they have to carry on with humility as they prepare to take on Extension Gunners this Saturday. “Building upon success is my strategy. Each success helps my players to develop their confidence. We have young players with skills and we have added sacrifice. Through hard work, discipline, relentless drills and an inspired tactical-technical games, GU thrived on the competition,” Zapata said after the victory against Miscellaneous.

Tshepo Maikano and Mpho Kgaswane were on target in the only BTC Premiership match scheduled for Tuesday.

He said in order to be a truly successful team, they must be patient with long term development of players.

“Every big goal is accomplished in stages, and I broke it into smaller measurable steps. Gunners is the next step,” Zapata said.

Kgaswane in particular seems to be returning back to form after being sidelined by an injury for the better part of last season.

When this season kicked off he played the first few matches as a second half substitute but has now managed to break into the starting 11.
