Through their company MetroCall Creatives, the duo produces Romatic coffee, which they customise according to the clients’ needs. They roast and package Arabica coffee beans of various origins ranging from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Americans such as Brazil, Colombia and Honduras.

Speaking to Monitor Business, Neo Mosimane said they aim to challenge the current standard and range of coffee available locally by providing coffee lovers the best quality.

“We buy superior quality green coffee beans from Equatorial Africa and Latin America and use the experience and knowledge we gained to roast coffee beans in a manner that highlights the best qualities,” she said.

Narrating their journey, Mosimane said she overheard Kabalisa’s conversation with her father about how he wants to have a local brand of coffee but have been trying without any luck. She then jumped to the idea as she is currently into the hospitality industry as a chef in her own company Itumeleng cuisine.

The Romatic Coffee journey then began with the duo doing some research on the market about their competitors, potential markets, where they would be getting their raw materials and coffee making.  After the satisfaction, they registered a company about four months ago and then went for training in South Africa to perfect their skills on coffee roasting and blending before heading back home for their breakthrough.

“We then bought a 70kg bag of beans from our supplier in South Africa. We hired a roasting machine from a local company because we need P350, 000.00 for the machine and started production then packaged our product before hitting the market,” she said.Penetrating the market has not been easy for the duo as they had to knock door to door to make people appreciate their product.

Currently Romatic Coffee is in five different restaurants in Gaborone including Black Restaurant, Dros in Riverwalk and Molapo, Capello and Linga Longa. The duo plan having their product in restaurants and hotels across the country to realise their dream of being the best coffee bean supplier to the hospitality industry.

Romatic Coffee has recently won the Botswana Pride Award at the just ended Global exposition organised by the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre. The duo are also selling coffee makers, grinders and even offering training on coffee making to broaden their scope.
