Ramotswa registration performance delights Segokgo

When updating councillors on the state of the district this week, Segokgo said: “I am pleased to announce that the National Registration exercise, which started on September 3, 2018 came to an end on November 11, 2018. Ramotswa Constituency topped the whole country with registration of 18,757 registrants as compared to 20,271 in 2014 whilst Tlokweng Constituency registered 11,956 compared to 13,844 in 2014”.
He urged the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to consider having a supplementary voter’s registration exercise to ensure that the numbers are increased to further legitimise democracy.
On other issues, he said during the month of September 2018, there was an outbreak of diarrhoea countrywide. Segokgo said from September 2 to November 10, 2018, the district had reported 1,305 cases of diarrhoea.
“Out of these 1,158 cases were diarrhoea without dehydration, 113 cases were with some dehydration and 14 cases with blood. A total of 41 cases of diarrhoea were handled by Bamalete Lutheran Hospital and three cases were referred to Princess Marina Hospital. Unfortunately two under-fives (1SES and 1TSD) lost their lives,” he said.
He said he has been briefed that currently the district is out of the outbreak, but still experiencing occasional cases in some facilities.
He said the district health management team would continue strengthening community health education, case management and monitoring the situation in the district.
